Watching Families Grow

Photographing new arrivals is an amazing experience. I see a couple become a family, a woman become a mother, a man become a father, a new generation arrive to continue the legacy of all the family that have gone before.

Everyone who casts their eyes to each baby sees eyes who resemble those of grandand or the pout that looks like a certain Aunt. They bring with them so many hopes, dreams and plans that they aren't even aware of. They can encompass so much is the tiniest of little packages and each one of them is a unique miracle.

But you know what I love too? When I get to photograph them again. That baby is now a couple of years old and has just become a big brother or sister. Sometimes it's like getting to photograph the first baby again because they are so alike and sometimes this new little miracle is so completely different from their sibling it's hard to fathom how they are kin.

Having had the pleasure of watching some families go from one, to two and then to three children, and having been given the gift of being allowed to capture each of them is so special to me.

I had the privilege of photographing this family from the time the eldest was a couple of weeks old. It is so brilliant looking at the images of each of them and seeing the differences and the similarities they share.
